San Anselmo

What is it like to live in San Anselmo?

San Anselmo’s sunny, temperate climate, rich history, creek-side location, and strong sense of community make it a fabulous place to call home. With the arrival of the railroad in the late 1800s, San Anselmo became the “Hub” of much activity. With numerous annual events, hiking and biking trails, and fine dining opportunities, San Anselmo is still known as the “Hub” today. White the community can feel a world away, its central Marin location makes for a stunning commute to San Francisco via the Larkspur Ferry.

"One sight you don’t want to miss is the majestic castle-like grounds of the University of Redlands Marin Campushome of San Francisco Theological Seminary. Perched among scenic walkways on the knoll above Ross Valley, with extraordinary views of Mt. Tamalpais and Bald Hill.  And Star Wars fans of all ages will want to visit Imagination Park, the brainchild of George Lucas, with its much-beloved (and much-photographed) statues of Yoda and Indiana Jones.

While you’re here, be sure to stop by Creekside Pizza and Taproom, just voted as Marin's Best Pizza and some of San Anselmo’s other attractions, including the Robson-Harrington House and Park, the Carnegie Library, and the American Legion Log Cabin." -visitmarin.org

Public School Information

Nestled in the heart of beautiful Marin County and less than twenty miles north of the Golden Gate, the Ross Valley School District serves the towns of San Anselmo and Fairfax. Currently, transitional kindergarten (TK) through eighth grade enrollment at our five outstanding campuses (four elementary and one middle school) is approximately 2,100 students. Our eighth graders matriculate into the Tamalpais Union High School District (TUHSD), where the majority attend Sir Francis Drake HS in San Anselmo. Performing academically in the top 5% of California’s public school systems, RVSD’s students also excel in art, music, poetry, drama, digital arts and more. Our highly engaged and supportive parents and staff are valued essential partners in everything we do and collectively, as a community, we are committed to CLIMB (Collaborate, Learn, Inspire, Mentor and Believe). Our proud tradition of inspiring unlimited possibilities for RVSD’s students dates back to 1893, when the first Board meeting of the San Anselmo School District was held. We look forward, as a community, to continuing this fine tradition for many decades to come and we warmly welcome you to our Ross Valley schools!
